The Kernow (Cornish for Cornwall) Teaching School Alliance (KTSA) was designated in 2014, bringing together outstanding educational providers from all educational phases from Nursery to Post 16 and Higher Education. We are based in the beautiful county of Cornwall and have secondary and primary Initial Teacher Training (ITT) partners across central Cornwall. Whilst the School Direct (SD) programme is demanding there will be time to enjoy all that Cornwall has to offer.
We offer a one year Initial Teacher Training (ITT) School Direct Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) programme (non-salaried) in both the Primary phase.
Our HEI partners:
We are delighted to be in partnership with the internationally renowned Russell group University at Exeter and the University of St Mark and St John. On completing our School Direct programme, you will be awarded credits towards your Masters degree which you can continue with the KTSA in your NQT year if you wish.
As a University of Exeter or the University of St Mark & St John student, you will have access to the all university facilities and their ITT education team are on hand to support you throughout your programme.
All of our schools work collaboratively and are experienced in delivering Initial Teacher Training. Our schools use their very best practitioners and have a passion for supporting new entrants into the profession. The KTSA aims to ‘grow our own,’ whether that be Newly Qualified Teachers, middle leaders or future school leaders. Whilst the programme does not offer guaranteed employment we would hope that you would be interested in beginning your career with us or returning to us at a later stage should the opportunity arise.
Our partnership is led by outstanding schools, outstanding leaders and outstanding teachers and we are fortunate to be able to draw on this expertise to give you access to high quality training and support. Our partnership has two designated Teaching Schools and a comprehensive school improvement programme. We are involved at the forefront of educational developments, supporting other schools, training future leaders and engaged in research, opening further opportunities to widen our ITT School Direct student experience. We hope that you will want to find out more and look forward to welcoming you into the partnership.
